Nintendo is slowly catching up in the online department, as Satoru Iwata unveiled the “Nintendo Network” in an investor presentation today. The “Nintendo Network,” whose logo was just spotted on the Japanese Theatrhythm cover, will cover “competitions and communication among users, as well as the sales of digital content,” Iwata said, for both 3DS and Wii U. Elements, like the “Community” building functionality, have already been implemented in Mario Kart 7.

For the Wii U, the Nintendo Network will support multiple personal user accounts per system, finally ending Nintendo’s insistence on tying software purchases to a single system.

The Network may also entail digital sales of retail 3DS games. “This concept was built into the design of the Nintendo 3DS, and we already have the necessary infrastructure,” Iwata said. “We will prepare the same infrastructure for the Wii U. However, we have not decided the concrete timing of when we will start it.”

Der Weiterverkauf digitaler Software wäre ja ein Hammer. Alles wehrt sich gegen den Gebrauchthandel, Nintendo hingegen würde dies sogar unterstützen.

Guten Morgen.
Eine sehr interessante News.
Es wird wirkllich Zeit, dass Ninendo das etabliert.
Ich wünsche mir, dass alle erhältlichen Virtual Console Titel auch für den 3DS verfügbar werden.
Sehr schön wär es, wenn man dann das Spiel auf WiiU und 3DS zocken kann, also bei Bedarf zwischen den Systemen wechseln kann, wie bei PS3 nd PSV.
Ich bin gespannt inwieweit der 3DS dann auch mit DLCs versorgt wird.
Gegen zusätzliche Strecken für MK7 hab ich nichts einzuwenden.
Der Gebrauchthandel ist natürlich hammer.
Ich erwarte einiges, Nintendo hat in der Hinsicht noch viel zu lernen, mal sehen, wie gut sie das umsetzen.

Ein gutes hat es ja, dass Nintendo so lange damit gewartet hat. Sie hatten genügend Zeit um zu analysieren was funktioniert und was nicht. Wobei sie es auf der anderen Seite auch machen mussten, nochmal eine Generation mit beschnittendem Online-Feature hätte wohl mehr kaputt gemacht.

Das würde bedeuten, dass man, entgegen vorheriger Ankündigungen, das Tablet doch unabhängig von der Konsole mitnehmen kann.

Das hab ich bisher überlesen. Ich glaub zwar nicht, dass die großen Publisher da mitziehen, aber es wäre echt der Hammer. Ein Riesenshritt Richtung Kundenfreundlickeit bei Digitaldistribution.

Auf die kann ich auch getrost verzichten. Sehr schön jedenfalls die Aussage, dass Nintendo auch weiterhin komplette Spiele veröffentlichen will. Schade nur, dass sie den übrigen Herstellern da freie Hand lassen: man ahnt schon, was Ubi, EA und Konsorten dann da treiben werden.
