Ja, hab mit dem AES 2006 angefangen. Zu dem Zeitpunkt waren die Preise auch noch ganz ok und ich konnte mir ne kleine aber feine AES Sammlung mit 20 Games (mittlerweile) aufbauen.
2019 würde ich aber nur noch zu nem AES in Kombination mit nem NeoSD raten. Der AES Markt ist einfach nur noch verrückt und es tummeln sich auch noch jede Menge Bootlegs.
Klar bekommt man auch noch günstige Games wie Fatal Fury Special oder Samurai Shodown 1 & 2 so Sachen wie Metal Slug oder Garou Mark of the Wolves gehen aber in die Tausende und das Risiko nen Bootleg für Schweinegeld zu kaufen ist halt auch sehr hoch.

Bin selbst Anfang 2018 auf ein consolized MVS umgestiegen und zocke meistens jetzt damit. Beim MVS ziehen die Preise zwar auch an, viele Games sind aber noch gut bezahlbar. Garou Mark of the Wolves kommt hier auf ca. 180 €. Metal Slug 1 & 2 je knapp 50 €.

Auch das Neo Geo CD ist besser als sein Ruf, hier gibt es noch viele Games zu Schnäppchenpreisen wenn du mit Ladezeiten leben kannst. Richtig störend empfinde ich die Ladezeiten eigentlich nur bei Overtop und den beiden Last Blade Teilen, die sollte man wirklich möglichst auf Modul zocken.

Da sind sogar sehr viele empfehlenswerte Sachen dabei z.B.:
Tiger Heli, Wardner, Kyuukyoku Tiger, Tatsujin, Daisenpuu, Snow Bros, Tatsujin Ou, Batsugun.

Viele Shmups sind mittlerweile relativ teuer (Tatsujin Ou, Batsugun), freue mich sehr über die beiden speziell.

Zero Wing ist auch ziemlich kultig <3 (All your base are belong to us).

Gute Nachricht für Käufer der japanischen Darius Cozmic Collection​: Die 3 fehlenden Games kommen als kostenloses Update! :D​
PS4 Fassung erscheint im März 2020 digital.

M2 portiert fast alle Toaplan Games auf aktuelle Systeme!
