    Mal zusammenfassend ein paar “Spoilerfreie” (für manche mag auch das schon ein Spoiler sein, deshalb nicht lesen, wer so überhaupt nix wissen will) Eindrücke zur Gameplay Mechanik:

      Im Hub lässt sich der Ash Estus gegen normalen Estus tauschen und umgekehrt
      Man kann also entscheiden, ob man mehr Heilung oder mehr Magie Regeneration will

      Mit dem Dried Finger kann man ein drittes weißes Phantom rufen, dafür kann man aber auch von zwei Leuten gleichzeitg invadet werden

      Als Unkindled sinken die Max HP auf 60%, wie zu seligen Demon’s Souls Zeiten (DeS Einflüsse gibt es noch in einigen Aspekten)

      Glück als Statuswert kehrt zurück
      Beeinflusst neben Droprate auch Gift- und Blutungs Potential

    Wie meinst du das mit der Schwerkraft? Ist das eine Fähigkeit, ein Statuswert oder meinst du die Schwerkraft im Spiel bzw. die Einschlagskraft der Waffen?

    Dark Souls 3: Miyazaki explains the difference between “difficult” and “unreasonable”

    While many prominent directors have been in the world of video games for what feels like forever, Hidetaka Miyazaki still feels like something of a fresh face. Inspired after playing Ico, he switched careers into games and quickly rose through the ranks of his chosen company, From Software.

    What followed was a meteoric rise over little more than a decade. Within a few short years Miyazaki was made president of the company having helmed a couple of solid Armored Core titles before finding what feels like his true calling in a game that’d later become Demon’s Souls. The success of that title, and the four games and two series’ that followed it, assured not only his position as company president but also as a visionary designer and director.

    He doesn’t immediately strike you as the type who has had a hand in creating several of the most influential games of the last ten years. During a stage presentation to press he holds the room’s attention, but also has a reticent but thoughtful presentation manner which suggests that when push comes to shove, he’d probably rather be back in Japan working on the game.

    He’s also hugely charming and humble, though – he apologetically tries to wrangle extra interview time off Namco PR when our slot runs a little short, and when I tell him I feel the Souls series’ open-ended take on narrative is one of the most refreshing in games, he sheepishly smiles and says thank you several times over with a tiny bow.

    I sit down with Miyzaki up in the rafters of a church which has been kitted out with the game and other Souls-style regalia for the press event. People explore the first few areas of the game and are mauled by its enemies below, with Miyazaki watching from on high. I’m not entirely sure if Namco planned this imagery or not, but it’s particularly potent nonetheless, especially as he goes on to detail his role as series overseer and how the one true canon for the series story is in his head only, and will remain there.

    “All of Dark Souls 3’s design is basically based on my own personal preference,” he declares when I ask him about the difference between Dark Souls 3 and the previous two titles in the series. That speaks to Miyazaki’s role as an auteur, too, in an age when games driven by one central, publicly visible figure seem to be less frequent. That, I suppose, is why Miyazaki looks so at home watching over this Souls event from above – this really is his baby.

    “Dark Souls 2 was of course built and supervised by other people at From Software, and so it matched their preference,” he explains. “So, in terms of the world design, and other elements, my preference is to return to something structurally a little more like the first game, and Bloodborne, with the world a little more connected.”

    While he’s undoubtedly the man in charge, Miyazaki does follow that statement up by noting that he has a sizeable team working on the game, with much of his work being that of an overseer. One area that requires his touch in particular, he reveals, is the series’ infamous difficulty.

    “Well, there were of course several moments where I had to stop things and take a step back and consider the difficulty,” he says with a smile. “But it’s not necessarily that I say ‘oh, this is too difficult,’ but instead the term I usually use is ‘unreasonable.’ So, that’s the term I tend to use when I have these conversations with the development team.”

    “When you think about it, the difficulty in the Dark Souls franchise so far has been something that players have eventually been able to overcome. So when I show concern to the development team members, that’s why the term I use is unreasonable – basically, we don’t want to go too far. It’s about striking a balance.”

    That balance, he goes on to explain, is something he strives to find and instill not just in difficulty, but in all aspects of the game. Take, for instance, how Dark Souls has you pick a character class at the top of the game. “We’re trying to keep it so that whatever type of character you create initially, it doesn’t really matter in terms of what weapons you wish to use later on,” he explains, then using the example of a fleet-footed thief using a gigantic longsword.

    “However we’re also trying to ensure that the classes and the character you create at the very beginning are still important and having an impact on you at the end of gameplay, too – so those are the two things we’re trying to balance, and the new weapon skill system adds to that.”

    As detailed in our full hands-on preview, Dark Souls 3 is in many ways a game that’s absolutely more of the same, but many wouldn’t consider that a bad thing at all. It’s clearly aimed to be the ultimate refinement of the series, also folding in knowledge gained from Bloodborne. One area where Dark Souls 3 will be all new, however, is in its narrative, with the game offering vital new information for fans who have trawled the first couple of games for every little piece of story they can find.

    “First of all, yes, there is a perfect storyline in my head,” Miyazaki laughs right away when I ask about the title’s narrative design, which continues to be light on dialogue and cinematics but heavy on in-world flavour text and very purposeful map design. “However,” he’s quick to add, “I have no intention at all of enforcing that storyline to the players out there.”

    “Only those storyline elements that actually make it into the game are something that I need to force players to accept as a base for building up their own interpretation of the world. There are things in my head that aren’t in the games, after all – so after that, it’s all up to the players. I have no intention in forcing any of the storyline upon any of the players out there, and there will be no official statements made about the ‘true’ story of the game.”

    In many ways, one can’t blame him. At one point Miyazaki tries to explain how the series timeline might not be all that it seems, but the lengthy explanation ends up truncated as it spirals into complexities too large to cover in our short interview slot and too nightmarish to translate on the fly. “It’s very difficult to explain via translator,” he says, his translator nodding along and laughing exasperatedly. “But even in terms of the perspective of time and when things take place, there’s a lot of vagueness.”

    The delivery of the narrative of the Souls series is something that’s grabbed the attention of a great deal of players, though in many ways it can also be seen as bold and risky – it requires a lot of thought, and is a far cry from the spoon-fed stories of many RPGs, especially those out of Japan.

    “I don’t think that necessarily blocks that game from having wider commercial success,” Miyazaki says of his storytelling method. “Whatever the case is, I feel enabling the player to find something new within the game and its world or storyline – or even other things, such as a shortcut or a boss weakness – gives very high value to the product thanks to the feeling that it creates among players when they make those discoveries.”

    “So, you know – we work on it. We try to give more value to the players, and some of that comes from allowing players to discover things themselves where many other games are more straightforward in telling you things.”

    While this is technically the fifth game in this mould from Miyazaki since 2009, it’s clear from our all-too-brief chat and from playing Dark Souls 3 that he’s still yet to burn out on this type of creation. I’m one of the final slots at the end of a gruelling 5-hour interview schedule, and yet he’s still energetic and enthusiastic about explaining the less obvious ins-and-outs of his seminal series.

    “I really love this style of video game,” Miyazaki says. It’s genuine; it shows. “I’m very happy to see a lot of fans excited about all aspects of the product we’ve made.”

    Das war ein Witz, Witze erklärt man normalerweise nicht.
    Schwerkraft verursacht die meisten Tode in Dark Souls.
    Fällt man runter is man tot.
    Schwerkraft overpowered.
    Die kann man nichtmal backstabben.
