Star Wars – neue Trilogie und Spin Offs

Disney soll mit Rogue One unzufrieden sein, teure Nachdreharbeiten anstehen:

Was das genau heißt, ist nicht ersichtlich – die Gründe könnten unterschiedlicher Natur sein: zu düster, zu kompliziert für das Massenpublikum oder doch qualitativ ungenügend. Eine Mischung ist nicht auszuschließen.

Monsters war jetzt auch nicht der grosse Burner, Godzilla nicht schlecht aber mir zu konventionell mit ein bisserl zeitgenössischer Aufbereitung, ohne wirklich frisch zu wirken.
Btw. Star Wars ist Mainstream, wer das nicht begreift, sollte da besser keine Regie führen. Hoffe mal, dass es trotzdem unterhaltsam wird, ohne dass ich jetzt grosse Sprünge erwarte.

Mainstream heißt aber auch, dass die leute eh reingehen und umsatz generieren, egal wie der film wird.
Wieso also nicht mal mutig sein und einen anderen ansatz wagen?

Monsters war eine vom Budget her absolut winzige Produktion. Dafür fand ich den Film sehr gelungen. Der hat keine 500.000 Dollar gekostet und sehr viel daraus gemacht.
Godzilla hat am Drehbuch gekrankt. Nicht an der Inszenierung. Dabei kann man aber kaum behaupten dass er nicht mainstreamkompatibel war.

Das ist eben genau kein Kriterium. Es interessiert mich einen feuchten Furz, ob der Film 1000 oder 1000000000000000 gekostet hat. Der Film sieht teurer aus, als er ist, bleibt emotional absolut flach und stinklangweilig. Im Prinzip hat man ein altbekanntes Star Trek Schema genommen (missverstandene Kreatur) und es massiv aufgebläht.
Godzilla bietet nichts, was man nicht woanders auch schon gesehen hätte, nur dass es professioneller gemacht ist. Aber Godzilla liess mich kalt, der restliche Cast auch.
Edwards holt nur viel ausm Budget raus, aber aus einem schwachen Drehbuch macht der keinen guten Film, so siehts aus.

Das heisst letztlich ist Edwards so austauschbar wie nur was, wenn mans auf Star Wars bezieht, denn am Budget wirds dort nicht liegen. Da hätte ich lieber Neil Blomkamp gehabt. Chappie und District 9 haben sich beide erfrischend anders angefühlt.

Zu Monsters: Ist halt deine Meinung. Es geht aber keineswegs einfach um die missverstandene Kreatur.
Bei Godzilla war die Inszenierung sehr gelungen. Das Drehbuch aber eben nicht wirklich stark genug um die Fokussierung auf die menschlichen Protagonisten voll zu tragen.
Ich könnte hier bei Blomkamp auch mit Elysium argumentieren. Der überzeugt trotz gutem Cast auch nicht rundum.

Ja, war noch ne langweilige Beziehungskiste mit dabei. ^^
In Godzilla hat man halt das typische Katastrophenszenario, was jetzt auch nicht wirklich packender umgesetzt wurde, als bei anderen Vertretern. Der Cast war praktisch komplett verschenkt. Godzilla-Fans vergeben einen Bonus.
Blomkamp hat trotzdem mehr vorzuweisen. Elysium kenn ich noch nicht, von einem gänzlich misslungenen Film geh ich da trotzdem nicht aus. Den Vergleich kann Edwards kaum gewinnen.
Anyway, besonders grosses Zutrauen scheint Disney da nicht zu besitzen. Und das mutet komisch an, hat man bei den Marvelfilmen doch auf allerlei Regisseure gesetzt, die mit Big Budget Produktionen noch nicht soviel am Hut hatten und davon sogar profitiert. Edwards scheint sich da eher in Richtung Carnahan zu entwickeln, dessen Narc ein sehr guter Einstand (sein zweiter Film laut Imdb) war, aber kurz darauf mehr von sich Reden machte, bei Projekt XY abgesprungen zu sein. Unter anderem kam er auch mit der Einmischung von oben nicht klar, bezw. genoss eben auch zu wenig Vertrauen.

Zum Glück hat FOX Blomkamp von dem Alien Projekt wieder abgezogen.

Nicht das er noch Lindelof den Rang abläuft.

Lindelof…, wenn der jetzt noch gute Handlungen schreiben würde…

Ich seh da bei Hollywood echt ein Problem. Es gibt eine junge Generation Regisseure, die was drauf haben, ein neues Verständnis für die digitalen Spielereien mitbringen und vieles mehr, denen man aber im Convenience Wahn entweder nicht vertraut oder keine Freiheiten lässt.

Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen)

Pronounced chi-RUT, he’s no Jedi, but he’s devoted to their ways and has used his spirituality to overcome his blindness and become a formidable warrior. “Chirrut falls into the category of being a warrior monk,” says Kennedy. “He very much still believes in everything the Jedi were about.” He maintains that belief even though the Jedi are no longer there to protect the galaxy. As director Gareth Edwards puts it: “This idea that magical beings are going to come and save us is going away, and it’s up to normal, everyday people to take a stand to stop evil from dominating the world.”

Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn)

This villain is an ambitious Imperial apparatchik who intends to use his squad of Deathtroopers to pulverize this Rebel uprising and ascend into the Emperor’s graces – while avoiding the wrath of his enforcer, Darth Vader. “The bad guy is a lot more terrifying when he’s really smart, and really effective,” says Knoll. “There is a lot of palace intrigue going on in the Empire, with people conspiring to move up the ranks and sabotaging each other. There’s not a lot of loyalty there.”

Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker)

Forest Whitaker’s character has been one of the more closely held secrets of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but Lucasfilm is ready now to make his identity official: this shadowy freedom-fighter is Saw Gerrera, a figure with a surprisingly deep background in galactic history.

The warrior — seen in the Rogue One trailer asking, “If you continue to fight, what will you become?” — was actually first seen in season 5 of The Clone Wars animated series, when he was a young man on the planet Onderon, unleashing guerilla combat on the droid army of Separatists who took over his world.

Consider him kind of a battered veteran who leads a band of Rebel extremists,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy tells EW. “He’s on the fringe of the Rebel Alliance. Even [they] are a little concerned about him.”

One reason we saved his reveal until now, in addition to him having a deeper backstory than the other new characters, is that Saw is an ally to the Rebel squad in Rogue One, but he’s not really one of them. “He’s off on his own,” Kennedy says.

In Claudia Gray’s recent Leia-centric novel Star Wars: Bloodline, set approximately midway between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, the princess-turned-politician is confronted by a rival who challenges her on the “terrorist tactics of the Rebel Alliance,” specifically citing “the campaigns of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans.”

Der sieht optisch so lecker aus. Ich freu mich richtig auf Dezember.

ich bin nicht auf dem laufenden. rouge one ist ein spin off welches zwischen episode 7 und 8 erscheint, korrekt?

Ja, Ende Jahr soll der im Kino laufen. Dann kommt Teil 8 und wenn ich mich nicht irre, das nächste Spinoff mit Han Solo, bevor Teil 9 fällig ist.
Persönlich hoff ich ja, dass wir nochmals McGregor als Obi Wan sehen werden. Die Chancen dafür stehen gar nicht mal so schlecht.
