Here’s our third major update on when we expect the Turrican Anthology Vol. 1 + 2 to ship, as well as a rough timeline for the other Turrican items we have on pre-order. Before we go into the details, presenting some of the new features and highlights of the Turrican Anthologies – here are the current shipping estimates.

The limprint standard editions of Turrican Anthology Vol. 1 and Turrican Anthology Vol. 2 (PS4/NSW) are set to ship early 2022.

Due to our friends at Factor 5 wanting to put in extra work on the documentary – to meet our common vision in regards to its composition – the Turrican Anthology Collector’s Editions are set to start shipping early spring 2022. Factor 5 have also taken upon themselves to fine-tune the creation of the figurine included in the ULTRA Collector’s Edition (PS4/NSW) – to give it the high quality we all have come to expect of anything Turrican – which means that the Ultra Collector’s Edition (XCE) will start to ship end of spring 2022.

We are therefore offering those who pre-ordered the ULTRA Collector’s Edition (XCE) to have it shipped without the figurine, and thus have the figure shipped separately at a later date – without any extra cost. This is, of course, to minimize further delays. If you ordered the ULTRA Collector’s Edition, please await a separate email with instructions on how to request having your pre-order(s) ship in advance of the figurine. This will be optional, of course.

The cartridge-based director’s cut games Mega Turrican & Super Turrican 1 + 2 are set to ship starting at the end of December 2021.

In short:
The Retro Cartridges start shipping end of DEC ’21
Limprint Standards start shipping in MAR ’22
CE starts shipping in APR ’22
XCE ALT.1 – w/o Figurine starts shipping in APR ’22 if you’d want it sooner, while the figurine will be shipped separately in July at no extra cost.
XCE ALT.2 – /w Figurine will be shipped in JUL ’22

Presentation of New Features

The two score attack modes for Super Turrican and Mega Turrican are coming along nicely. However, this is not the only new feature that Factor 5 has been working on. You’ll soon be able to play every game in your favorite control style: Amiga Controls for the Console versions or Console Controls for the Amiga version.

The customization options will also include the possibility to use the Wheel Jump in the Amiga Turrican games and the Amiga Firing Style in the console games. Another addition will be to experience the Amiga games with full 60Hz support. The choices won’t stop here – far from it. Let’s go through a few of them here below…

The map feature, with multiple layers for every game, tracks your position in real-time. You’ll also be able to use the “map as a wallpaper” that scrolls along with your gameplay in real-time. Another map option is the new “map overlay” feature which will allow you to show the level map transparently drawn on top of your gameplay, allowing you to access in-game info that’d usually be hidden from sight. The map options will also include a “map atlas” for every game, where every and all secrets will be shown.

The map feature has been extremely tricky to implement, having our armada of skilled retro hackers to trick the original game code to work in the games’ new iterations. Of course, we had to make it happen.

Music-wise – Play every game with the Turrican music of your choice by picking between the original emulated tracks, the original remastered tracks or the new Turrican Soundtrack Anthology Remake soundtrack. Of course, you’ll also be able to enjoy the Mega Turrican or Mega Turrican Director’s Cut experiences along with the Amiga soundtrack.

A jukebox will be present for every game, allowing you to listen to the Remastered Original or the Turrican Soundtrack Anthology Remake whenever you’d like! There’ll also be a secret bonus jukebox, featuring additional unlockable tracks.

Retro Cartridge Artwork Reveal

That’s right! We have one more thing to show you this time around. Please, behold the nostalgia-infused artworks that will be featured on the retro cartridge editions! Two of these have been made by none other than legendary illustrators Tom Dubois and Mike Winterbauer. We also have some instant classic retro magic for the Super Turrican 2 artwork, created by the brilliant mind of future legend Halil Ural.

Artist Mike Winterbauer enjoys creating powerful and compelling cover art and is well known for his classic computer game cover illustrations. He has been an artist and illustrator for over thirty years and is a Art Center College of Design graduate. His illustration work has been seen all over the world and enjoyed by computer gamers and art collectors. Some of his notable covers are Wing Commander, Solstice, Power Blade, WolfChild, Might and Magic Clouds of Xeen , DarkSide of Xeen and many others.

In 2014 he self-published the award winning book Classic Game Covers, Confessions of an Art Junkie. In 2014 he made the eBook version of Classic Game Covers available for free. The response to the free eBook was overwhelming. Classic Game Covers has been written up on websites all over the world and read in over 80 countries!

To this day he continues to create new awesome art for his fans and other projects. He is super excited to have had the opportunity to paint a very cool Turrican cover painting!

Throughout the years, Tom worked on official box art illustrations for franchises such as Castlevania, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sunset Riders, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, Cybernator, Contra and Rocket Knight Adventures. His work can also be found on advertisements from companies such as Gillette, McDonalds and General Mills.

With the departure from classically painted artwork in the late 1990s, Tom shifted his attention to traditional arts for various exhibitions and church organizations. He once again became a popular and in demand illustrator for video games with the resurgence in retro video gaming, and his appearance on My Life in Gaming. Today he is back consistently working on video game box art, and adds Turrican to his long list of legendary credits. Pretty cool!

With over 10 years of experience with strong background in painting, illustration and graphic design as a freelancer and as a full-time artist for a wide range of clients, Halil Ural has established himself as an industry giant among artists of today.

His clients range from humble indie startups all the way to leading game companies and large book publishers. As Halil had already participated with Chris Huelsbeck to create artworks for his music album project “Turrican Soundtrack Anthology”, we felt very excited to have him join our ranks for yet another exquisite Turrican contribution.

Eine Impfpflicht muss nicht unbedingt “durchgesetzt” werden. Schon alleine von einer Einführung werden Effekte erhofft, weil der Druck wächst und Verweigernde untereinander eine Ausrede bekommen, sich jetzt doch zu impfen. Die Frage ist, ob damit im Verbund weiterer Motivationsmaßnahmen genügend Leute erreicht werden, damit wir halbwegs glimpflich in endemische Zustände kommen. Was wirklich übel wäre, wäre ein Impfzwang, bei dem Cops mit Spritzen vor der Tür stehen.

Die allgemeine Impfpflicht wird mit sehr hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit kommen. Die entscheidenden Politiker:innen planen das schon und immer mehr Leute kapieren, dass sie Geld spart, Einschränkungen minimiert, Leid mindert und Leben rettet. Der soziale und bald vielleicht auch monetäre Preis, sich dagegen quer zu stellen, wird höher und höher.

Heute beginnt das Metal Hammer Paradise Festival an der Ostsee. Ein Haufen Freund:innen fährt dorthin. Auch ich habe ein Ticket. Heute ist dort nur Disco; obwohl das eigentlich mein Lieblingsabend des Festivals ist, spare ich mir das. Aber soll ich morgen hinfahren? Selbstverständlich bin ich doppelt geimpft. Ich würde mich nicht betrinken, auch bei den Konzerten Maske tragen und mich allgemein zurückhalten. Täglicher Antigentest wäre auch angesagt. Die aktuelle Pandemieentwicklung schreckt mich aber ab und ich hätte große Schuldgefühle. Und will ich Blind Guardian wirklich mit Maske sehen und nicht mitsingen? Vermutlich spielen sie ein Oldschool(lastiges) Set, evtl. die komplette Somewhere; dafür würde ich eigentlich töten. HEUL!!!
