Borat’ Sequel Acquired By Amazon Studios; Sacha Baron Cohen Film Will Bow On Prime Video Right Before Election Day

Baron Cohen and cohorts flew to various parts of the U.S. and internationally to shoot the film. As he did on the first Borat, the follow-up film Brüno, and his Showtime summer series Who Is America, Baron Cohen risked his life multiple times to shoot the scenes in this film. Indeed, I’m told by sources that he had to wear a bulletproof vest on two different shooting days and on many days, there were risky and dangerous scenarios in shooting. Baron Cohen managed to do a good job keeping the film under wraps, though word of it has leaked a bit after it wrapped and CAA Media Finance showed it to buyers and set the distribution deal.

Baron Cohen rushed to have the film ready to open before Election Day. The first film was a big success, grossing $262 million worldwide for Fox. Given the fact that that studio was swallowed by Disney, and theatrical releases are more perilous than ever in the pandemic, they decided the best way for the movie to be seen by its widest audience before Election Day was to open on Amazon Prime before the end of October. So it will be on Prime that Baron Cohen does what he has turned into a singular art form: going undercover to get people to reveal their true selves and their often unflattering biases, with only the slightest provocation.

They needed a poster for #JohnCarpenter’s #TheThing in a hurry. So I conceived it, painted it, and my art was delivered to the studio all within 24 hrs. In fact, when they put it under the glass to photograph it, the paint stuck to the glass because the thing was still wet! pic.twitter.com/Nfi73qq8Ad

“I got a call one day and they said they needed a poster overnight,” Struzan says. “The studio said, ‘Remember that movie from the 50’s, The Thing?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ They said, ‘That’s it.’ That was all they gave me. I didn’t have a story or a monster or anything. So I had to make something out of nothing overnight.”

Gang of ‘Trump raccoons’ attack journalists working at White House

A gang of mischievous raccoons caused chaos when they “attacked” members of the media at the White House.

Four of the furry pests went after journalists with one photographer and a reporter having their clothes grabbed as they worked on the North Lawn.

“Strong Pawnee vibes at White House this morning as a raccoon attacked multiple news crews on North Lawn. allegedly grabbed pant leg of a photographer & then a corespondent before being fended off,” tweeted Paula Reid of CBS News.

The incident quickly went viral on social media with some Twitter users suggesting they had been sent by Donald Trump to exact revenge for coverage of his tax controversy.
