Er trägt zur Atmosphäre bei, stört aber in manchen Situationen, wo er zu stark ist. Ohne ist das Bild schärfer.

Der letzten Einstellung sah man das (bewusst) Handgemachte schon deutlich an. Im Grunde die “weiße” Variante eines Blaxploitation Films, wo Vince Vaughn seinen Kritikern zeigen darf, dass er mehr zu Leisten imstande ist. Er wirkt optisch phasenweise wie Michael Chiklis in The Shield.

S. Craig Zahler anderer Film, Bone Tomahawk, hat eine deutlich extremere Gewaltszene gegen Ende, die wenig genreerfahrene Zuschauer verstören dürfte.

Zuletzt hatte ich mir Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich angesehen, wo er das Drehbuch verfasst hatte – leider enttäuschend (Spannungsaufbau, Inszenierung).

Auffällig bei S. Craig Zahler ist, dass seine Filme und Drehbücher Minderheiten als Opfer (Nazipuppen töten Juden, Farbige in Puppet Master) oder Täter (Bone Tomahawk, Brawl in Cell Block 99) zeigen. In Dragged Across Concrete arbeitet er wieder mit Vince Vaughn und diesmal mit Mel Gibson zusammen. Beide übernehmen die Rollen von rassistischen Cops. Ich habe mir den Film noch nicht angsehen. Bei den Kritikern fällt die Resonance unterschiedlich aus. Manch einer spricht von “vile, racist, right-wing fantasy”. Andere sehen das differenzierter, mehr an der Grenze dessen, was es sein könnte.

Condemned läuft mittlerweile bei solider Bildrate mit Xbox One Pad.

Was das FPS Problem betrifft, habe ich über den Geräte-Manager alle Human Interface Devices (HID) mit entsprechender Bezeichnung deaktiviert. Condemned läuft so ähnlich gut wie FEAR. Ohne Deaktivierung bricht die Bildrate nach ein paar Minuten auf 20 FPS ein. FEAR leidet unter demselben Problem.
